After a one year hiatus, the Old Ellicott City Main Street Music Fest is back on Saturday with 50+ performances over 9 different stages from noon until 8pm. It’s going to be a good time!

Did you know that Maryland Restaurant Week starts tomorrow and runs for ten days? Check out all the participating restaurants, visit old favorites or find some new ones.

Also, today, Constitution Day, is one of eight entrance fee-free days offered by the National Park Service to US citizens and residents.

Just a reminder that Howard County has an app and website that lets you report non-emergency neighborhood problems called Tell HoCo. It’s great because someone responds pretty quickly to each request, we had a pothole fixed within a few days after submitting it.

Be Careful Before Cutting Down Trees 🎄

PG County jury awards the largest tree cutting verdict in history with a $933,000 verdict when a neighbor hired a tree company to cut down 9 mature trees. The property owner was away on business travel and the neighbor just left a note in their mailbox!

Need a Mattress? RHS Fundraiser 9/19

If you or someone you know wants to replace a bed in your home, now is the time!  The Reservoir High School Athletics Program is excited to announce that it will host a one-day Mattress Fundraiser on Saturday, September 19 from 10AM to 5PM at the high school! They have 30+ bed styles on display for customers to try. The brand-name mattresses (Purple, Helix, and more!) are made to order, have full factory warranties, are available in all sizes, and are priced below retail.  In addition to beds, premium pillows, luxury sheets, and adjustable power bases will also be available, along with delivery and financing options. Check out this video to see how it works!

  • Walk with a Doc - Walk with a Doc is a walking program for everyone interested in taking steps for a healthier lifestyle. You’ll take a few minutes to learn about a current health topic from a healthcare professional, then spend the rest of the hour enjoying a healthy walk and fun conversation. It’s a great way to get out, get active, and enjoy all the benefits that come from walking. Walk your own pace and distance.

  • Barnyard Fall Festival at Mary’s Land Farm 2026 - The Mary’s Land Farm Fall Festival returns for the 2026 season starting September 19, bringing with it a bustling barnyard, exciting attractions, and the kind of family fun that makes for lasting memories. Whether you’re visiting for the animals, the slides, the pumpkins, or all of the above; there’s something for everyone this season.

  • Children’s Day @ Brookside Gardens - From 10am to 2pm, explore the science and art of gardening through child-driven art projects and engaging science activities. Participants can explore outdoor activity stations designed to educate and entertain. Bring your friends, family, and picnics (only allowed during this special event). Registration encouraged, but not required.

  • Columbia Cruise Night @ McGaw Plaza - Columbia Cruise Night takes place on Saturday nights from 4pm-8pm. at McGaw Plaza. The event features hot rods, street rods, classic cars, and modern muscle cars. It is open to all car enthusiasts. Free parking is available, along with music and family-friendly activities. There are also plenty of restaurants nearby.

  • Festival of India @ Howard County Fairgrounds - This two-day event (Saturday and Sunday) will be the largest festival in Maryland, attracting ~20,000 - 25,000 patrons from Howard and surrounding Counties under one roof to enjoy, celebrate and take pride in Indian culture - art, music, dance, food, clothing, jewelry, handicrafts, and more.

  • The Rockin’ A Horse Show @ Howard County Fairgrounds - The Rockin’ A is a new horse show series, catering to all western, speed and ranch riders. Skill levels​ are from beginner to advanced . . . a new show series that the whole family can participate in.

  • Howard Astronomical League Star Parties - The HAL hosts star parties every month up at Alpha Ridge Park from March through November, the next public one (for non-members) is on September 19th.

  • Tequila Nights @ Lib’s Grill - Enjoy an evening of tequila-inspired cocktail tastings and chef-crafted bites as you sip and stroll through four unique tasting stations throughout the restaurant and patio. $67pp.

  • Downtown Silver Spring Freshfarm Farmers Market - Veterans Plaza from 9am-1pm, the year round market features local vendors offering everything from seasonal fruits and vegetables to farm-fresh eggs, artisanal breads, goat cheese, meats, honey, cut flowers, pastries, preserves, and more.

  • KidSpace Movie Night @ Columbia Athletic Club - Kids 4-13 of CA members can enjoy a movie, free activities, pizza, and popcorn from 6pm to 9pm. Unfortunately, CA doesn’t seem to list the movie being shown!
