Labor Day is next Monday and as such there will be some government closures (all offices, the animal shelter, 50+ centers, the landfill, local courts, as well as trash and recycling pickup with a slide for other days). Here’s the full list.
But with those closures will be the openings of various farm breweries and other venues. Check your favorite spots because there’s a good chance they are open with lots of activities. For example, Manor Hill Brewing will be open 12-5pm with live music by The Low Keys.

Private Fireworks Display 9/5 🎆
If you live near the 11100 block of Terrace Lane in Fulton, HoCo Fire and Rescue Services warns there will be a private fireworks display on September 5th at approximately 9pm. This is near the parking lot behind Galliano’s in Maple Lawn.

Luna Coffee Bar Opens in OEC 🍵
Earlier last week, Luna Coffee Bar opened up in OEC in what was once Le Jardin Rose and Cozy Cafe. “The menu will boast coffee drinks, chai, matcha and “light bites” such as pastries, muffins and bagels.” You can read the story in the Baltimore Sun (subscription required but if you have a Howard County library card, you can get 1-day access through the Digital Library)
The Meadows is (Likely) Sticking Around! 🍦
Last week, we learned from Jeremy Dommu of the Merriweather Post shared a story about how The Meadows was losing their lease (despite a verbal agreement). The outpouring of support of the Meadows got Kimco back to the table and they agreed to meet to discuss a lease renewal! (fingers crossed)
