Cinemark, AMC, and Regal all have summer movie programs where you can get cheap movie tickets throughout the week:

Tell HoCo 📣

You can use Tell HoCo to report non-emergency things HoCo needs to fix like pot holes. It’s great, I used it earlier this year for a massive pothole outside our neighborhood. I was pleasantly surprised to see it was fixed within a week! So don’t tell random people on Facebook, tell HoCo.

Kids Bowl Free This Summer! 🎳

A bunch of bowling alleys, including Main Event in Columbia, participate in Kids Bowl Free this summer. They have to be between the ages of 2 and 15 and you get two free games per day, per person. If you don’t have bowling shoes, you’ll have to rent them.

  • Dancin’ Under the People Tree - Fridays at the CA Lakefront are for Dancin’ Under the People Tree 💃🕺🏽. CA’s high-energy group fitness instructors will get you moving with an upbeat, all-levels dance session. We'll meet at 7pm under the People Tree (the 30-foot sculpture with human-shaped branches).

  • Movie Night: The Super Mario Galaxy Movie - After Dancin’ Under the People Tree 💃🏽, it’s movie time 🎥. Bring a blanket and join us for movie nights at dusk. From timeless classics to the newest blockbusters, there's something for everyone at Lakefront Live. All films are closed captioned and begin at dusk (around 8pm).

  • Friday Flicks Series: The Super Mario Galaxy Movie - Head to Granville Gude Park to enjoy a movie with friends and family. Bring a blanket or a chair, pack a picnic or grab something to eat at our concession stand and relax for some great lakeside entertainment, movie starts at sunset (around 8:30pm).

  • Elkridge Volunteer Fire Dept. Food Truck Fridays - Every Friday until October 30th, a variety of food trucks will be there from 4:30-7:30pm. They list the food trucks attending each week and it’s usually a very big turnout.

  • Half Price Fridays @ National Aquarium - After 5pm, enjoy half priced tickets at the National Aquarium all year long.

  • Karaoke @ The Trolley Stop - Fridays at 9:30pm hosted by Kelly Secret.

  • Teen Kick Backs (11-17 yrs) @ Various Community Centers - Teens (11-17 years old): Are you looking for a fun way to spend your free time? Come and join us at our community centers for our free drop-in program for teens! There will be free pizza and snacks, sports, video games, and lots of fun. Click through to see when they’re being held and on which day, they’re every Friday and Saturday through August.

  • Summer Sounds Series: Harpers Choice Village Center - The Summer Sounds Series at Columbia Village Centers is bringing themed nights each month with exciting live music, plus family-friendly activities and more. This week’s musical act is 55th Anniversary.

  • The Grub & Groove Experience @ Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 69 - From noon until 6pm, enjoy this FREE indoor/outdoor experience bringing together great food, live music, and high-energy vibes. Enjoy food trucks and vendors, a live DJ, and a cash bar while mixing, mingling, and grooving all afternoon.

  • Ellicott Distilling Co. Distillery Class - Distill your own bottle of vodka or gin and flavor it with their thousands of flavor combinations or bring your own. Get a custom label, do some trivia, win prizes, eat tacos, and sip on bottomless mimosas! Starts at 10am and ends around 12:30pm.

  • Yoga in the Park - Every Monday through August 31st, join Columbia Association instructors Mondays at 6pm throughout the summer for FREE yoga sessions at the Chrysalis!

  • Summer Creek Days @ Sharp’s at Waterford Farm 8/4 - From 10:30am to noon, bring the kids to have a fun filled learning experience in the creek! After feeding our farm friendly animals, we will take a hayride down to the Cattail Creek. The children will use our nets and head into the shallow water to catch a variety of critters. After some time in the water, we will go creekside to discuss and identify our catch. We set the critters free, hop on the hayride and head back to the barnyard. $10pp.

  • Clarksville Commons' Annual National Night Out 8/4 - From 5pm to 8pm, the celebration will bring together non-profit organizations, community groups, local businesses, first responders, public safety agencies, and other organizations dedicated to serving our community including live music by Out of Order. The event provides a great opportunity to connect with residents, share resources, build relationships, and celebrate community engagement in a fun and family-friendly environment.

  • 2026 National Night Out @ Color Burst Park 8/4 - National Night Out at Colorburst Park is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 4. HCPD will be celebrating from 5 – 8 p.m. This FREE event will feature police and fire displays, DJ, child-friendly activities, games, giveaways and more!

  • Centennial Park Summer Concerts: Patuxent Jazz Band 8/5 - Bring a blanket and a picnic while enjoying the musical sounds of summer with Patuxent Jazz Band. Starts at 7pm.

  • Free Bingo Night @ Common Kitchen - Every Tuesday at 6pm. You get 6 free bingo cards (and can earn more, ask the bingo caller!) and can win prizes each round like free food and drink and Common Kitchen gift certificates.
