🌎 Earth Day isn’t until the 22nd but this weekend will be GreenFest, Howard County’s largest celebration of Earth Day. While there will be more celebrations and events closer to the 22nd, this weekend will be HoCo’s “official” event at the Howard Community College Academic Commons.
🐶 The CHARM Rescue’s Spring Festival is next week (18th) and one of the fundraisers is Pies for Paws: The CHARM Pie Throwdown where you can vote for who gets pie’d in the face! 😂
⭐ Also, the Burtonsville Sharks DI Team is fundraising to try to reach the Destination Imaginal Global Finals in Kansas City, MO. The competition is run by Destination Imagination, a worldwide STEM organization that empowers kids to be creative in engineering, art, music, and team building.

St. Paul’s Community Yard Sale ⛪
St. Paul’s Lutheran Church near the High’s in Fulton is having their second community yard sale on May 9th and for $25, you can run a 10×10 space with a cafeteria style table under their pavilion. Here are more details and the deadline to reserve a space is April 24th.
BW Parkway Temporary Closure 🚧
A section of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway near Jessup will be closed for two weekends to demolish a bridge. WBALTV has the full details but southbound will be closed this weekend and northbound will be closed next weekend.
HoCo Youth Poet Laureate Applications ✒️
The Youth Poet Laureate, an honorary one-year position formally appointed by the County Executive, will act as an ambassador for literacy, arts, and youth expression. It comes with a $500 honorarium and serves from August through June. Applications accepted until April 30th.

Forest Bathing with HoCo Conservancy - If the hike is a bit too much, learn the mindful practice of immersing yourself in nature and using your senses to unlock benefits for your physical, mental, emotional and social well-being.
