Maryland State BBQ Bash in Bel Air - It’s a bit of a trek into Harford County but if you like BBQ, it’ll be worth the trip as it’s a competition plus street festival with the winners getting a shot to compete in the Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational Barbecue in Lynchburg, TN and The American Royal in Kansas City, MO.

OktoBEARfest @ The Maryland Zoo - Two nights of beers and bears at the zoo. Friday is 21+. Tickets include unlimited sampling of seasonable brews, plus wine, seltzer, and cider. There will be live music, local vendors, and all-day admission to the zoo. (say hi to the penguins!)

Movie Nights in the Park @ Color Burst Park - Pre-movie activities start at 6pm with games, trivia, and music. Then, at 7:15pm, enjoy How to Train Your Dragon with a complimentary popcorn station.

Family Friendly Halloween Trail @ Braglio Farms - Ten bucks gets you a fun-filled farm adventure with a 3-Acre light up maze, inflatables, campfires, hayrides, and more. Children under 3 are free and there are zero scares.

JCPenney Kids Zone Fire Safety Craft - 11am to noon at JCPenney, your kids can create a foam fire safety scene and also a colelctor’s pin, badge, and lanyard.

4th Annual Laurel Pride Celebration - A family-friendly event that celebrates the diversity and vibrance of our LGBTQIA+ community members and allies. Come out to Laurel Lake at Granville Gude Park on Oct. 11 for a day full of music, dancing, vendors, food and amazing performances.

Truck or Treat @ Gary J. Arthur Community Center - Celebrate Halloween with a “wheely fun” day outdoors from10am to 3pm! Come dressed in your favorite costume to trick-or-treat at trucks, tractors, emergency vehicles, and more, as your child meets hometown heroes. Register for a 75-minute time slot, $5 per child, $2 per adult. Limit two adults per child.

Lakefront Live Y2K DJ Night @ Lake Kittamaqundi - Party like it’s 2005! Free concert at the lake with early 2000s hits with fun activities and vibes all night from 6-9pm.

Jazz Performance & Picnic Lunch with High Caliber - Head to the Bob Janine Grossman Amphitheater and enjoy a relaxing picnic while listening to a jazz quintet, high Caliber. $10 per person.

A Campfire Tail Family Pajama Party @ Robinson Nature Center - Put on your best pajamas and follow along with the book “A Campfire Tail” about a dragon’s first time at summer camp from 6pm to 8:30pm. Create your own dragon to bring along with you through the evening of camp-themed activities. Build a fort fit for a dragon, go on a scavenger hunt to find all your camp essentials, and tell stories around the campfire while roasting marshmallows. $55 per family (up to 4).

Party with a Purpose @ SHEW - Safe Haven Equine Warriors in Sykesville holds their Party With a Purpose benefit with free admission, pony rides, pumpkin painting, face painting, raffles, music, food and more.

Japan Day @ Harriet Tubman Cultural Center - I did not know that Maryland the the Kanagawa Prefecture in Japan have a Sister State Relationship and you can learn about that and other things Japan at Japan Day. Tickets.

Howard County PRIDE Festival - From 11am to 5pm, visit Merriweather Park at Symphony Woods to enjoy a vibrant day filled with music, dance, games, food, and resources that honor and uplift our LGBTQIA2S+ community.

Silver Spring Arts & Crafts Fall Fair - From 1-6pm, Veterans Plaza in Silver Spring will host an arts and crafts fall fair with 80+ artisans and crafters. Admission is free.

National Capital Kennel Club Dog Show @ HoCo Fairgrounds - The Fairgrounds will host the National Capital Kennel Club for their second show of 2025. There will be one Obedience trial and two Rally trials.

Ellicott Distilling Co. Distillery Class - Distill your own bottle of vodka or gin and flavor it with their thousands of flavor combinations or bring your own. Get a custom label, do some trivia, win prizes, eat tacos, and sip on bottomless mimosas! Starts at 10am and ends around 12:30pm.
