Family Fun Day @ Columbia Mall - This may be cancelled for today. I mention it because normally they would have it but because HoCo schools are closed, they cancel it. I’m not sure why they didn’t know ahead of time because today is a scheduled holiday.

Do-Si-Do’s Dance Hall Monthly - On the first Thursday of the month, dance the night away from 6:45pm to 10pm at Carroll Baldwin Hall in Savage.

Karaoke Thursday Party @ Periodic Table - If you love karaoke, it’s every week at 9pm with DJ Diamond and DJ Tommy with no cover.

Trivia Night @ Common Kitchen - Every Thursday starting at 6:30pm with Dan Master Quiz. Prizes to the top three teams of 1-6 people.

Office on Aging and Independence Walktober Kick-Off Event @ Columbia Mall - Kick off Walktober with an 8:30am walk around the mall. Includes information table on resources as well as complimentary coffee, water, and healthy snacks.

Open Mic with Write to Right @ Novel Refuge - Sign up to perform / read a poem or short story, or just come out to hear the creativity of our young people as they take to the stage to share their talents.

Movie Nights in the Park @ Color Burst Park - Pre-movie activities start at 6pm with games, trivia, and music. Then, at 7:15pm, enjoy Lilo & Stitch (Live Action) with a complimentary popcorn station.

Manor Hill First Friday Release - It’s a new month and a new release, this time it’s My Own Murder, a Black IPA. Enjoy pizza from the trolley and live music by Tears for Devere from 5pm to 8pm.

KidSpace Movie Night @ Columbia Athletic Club - Kids 4-13 of CA members can enjoy a movie, free activities, pizza, and popcorn from 6pm to 9pm. Unfortunately, CA doesn’t seem to list the movie being shown!

Home Depot Kids Workshop Haunted Candy Box - On the first Saturday of each month, you can take your kids to a fun little workshop at 9am. Registration is a good idea.

Wizarding Weekend on Magical Main - Two day event today and Sunday, the 6th annual Wizard Weekend goes from 11am to 10pm with events all over OEC.

Wanderland “Beer Festival” @ Symphony Woods - Enjoy five regional tasting zones of MD beer, wine, & spirits, as well as live music at Chrysalis Stage, artisan market, and “WanderPods for private chill.” Tickets start at $5.

Fire Prevention Open House - The Savage Volunteer Fire Company is hosting an open house from noon until 4pm that includes activities, demos, fire prevention information, firehouse tours, face painting, balloon artists, food, FIRE TRUCKS and more.

Clarksville Farmer’s Market - This weekend from 9am to 1pm with Richard Rowe performing and a representative from the American Legion sharing about resources available to veterans.

Recktoberfest 3 - From noon until midnight at Reckless Shepherd Brewery, celebrate with beers, lagers, schnitzel, contests and games all day.

Das Best Oktoberfest @ Maryland State Fairgrounds - Noon until 5pm, the fairgrounds hosts one of the biggest beer festivals in the state with 150 different beverages. There will be plenty of food, games, and contests.

Fall Festival @ North Laurel Community Center - $5 ticket gets you an afternoon of music, games, entertainment, light refreshments, and more from noon until 3pm.

Germantown October Fest - 11am to 5pm, head to Germantown to enjoy a fun festival that starts with a Spooky Dance Party. Be sure to wear your best costume because the winner gets crowned Parade Marshall!

Hispanic Heritage Festival @ Color Burst Park - 5pm to 9pm, enjoy a celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month with music, live entertainment, performances, delicious food, artisans, food vendors, exhibitors, books and an art display.

Summer Movie Night @ The Wine Bin - Bring a chair or blanket, some good friends, and enjoy Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix starting at 9pm.

Rockin’ A Horse Show @ HoCo Fairgrounds - A new horse show series that caters to Western, Speed, and Ranch riders.

Howard Astronomical League Star Parties- The HAL hosts star parties every month up at Alpha Ridge Park from March through November, the next one is this Saturday.

Free Guided Tour of B&O Ellicott City Station Museum - We love this free museum, especially the model train room (it’s quite impressive). Tours are free and start at 2pm every Saturday and Sunday..

Annual St. Francis Festival - From 12:00pm to 3:30pm, head to the St. Francis of Assisi Parish Grounds (8300 Old Columbia Rd) with a Blessing of Animals at 1pm. Enjoy a petting farm, pumpkin patch, games and crafts for all ages, music, and bounce house. Hotdogs, soft drinks, and beer for sale.

Noa Baum’s Once Upon a Kindness @ Chrysalis Kids - Join Noa Baum as she reads stories at the Chrysalis in this free event. Doors open at 10am, reading at 11am.

Meowtoberfest @ Manor Hill Brewing - BARCS returns to the farm from noon until 4pm with adoptable animals, kids craft in the barn as well as a mini-markers market until 4pm.

Apple Spice Tea Party @ Robinson Nature Center - Ticketed event where you can enjoy apple-themed art, a nature walk, and story time while you enjoy tea, apple citer, and treats from Touche Touchet. Two sessions, 10am to noon and 2-4pm.

Banned Book Silent Book Club @ Novel Refuge - From 1-4pm, stop in the store, bring your earbuds or headphones, and download/listen to a banned audiobook as you shop. There will be a walking route map available if the weather is nice and you want to walk the trail through Maple Lawn while you listen. The FREE audiobook is yours to keep.

Downtown Columbia Culinary Walking Tour - Ticketed event from the Downtown Columbia Partnership in which you go on a self-guided walking tour and visit several locations in a three hour window to enjoy bites and beverages.

Ellicott Distilling Co. Distillery Class - Distill your own bottle of vodka or gin and flavor it with their thousands of flavor combinations or bring your own. Get a custom label, do some trivia, win prizes, eat tacos, and sip on bottomless mimosas! Starts at 10am and ends around 12:30pm.

Taste of the Towne at Towne Centre Laurel 10/8- Twenty bucks gets you delicious bites at over a dozen restaurants at the Towne Centre Laurel while enjoying music from Eddie Baccus Jr. & Intrinsic Soul. Plus, proceeds benefit Laurel Advocacy and Referral Services.

Free Bingo Night @ Common Kitchen - Every Tuesday at 6pm. You get 6 free bingo cards (and can earn more, ask the bingo caller!) and can win prizes each round like free food and drink and Common Kitchen gift certificates.
