A reminder that the the 79th Howard County Fair is happening at the fairgrounds until this Sunday. It is full of fun events too numerous to name. Here’s the full schedule of events. If it gets too hot, remember the exhibit hall is air-conditioned and our friends at Manor Hill run a Beer Garden in the back! 🍺
Maryland Tax-Free Week starts on August 10th and goes until the 16th. No sales tax on qualifying apparel and footwear $100 or less and the first $40 of a backpack is tax-free too.

The Office of the Local Children’s Board will be distributing free backpacks filled with school supplies for Howard County students at these locations from 9:30am to 11:30am. No registration required, first come first served.

Little Patuxent Parkway Pedestrian Bridge 💥💥
Starting on or about Monday, August 11th, the Little Patuxent Parkway Pedestrian Bridge will be demolished. That’s the concrete bridge near Whole Foods. It’s set to close the parkway from 8pm on the 11th until 8am on the 12th - it’s going to be quick!

Rennfest tickets are only available online this year and I popped into the queue to see how crazy it was… and had no idea it was this bananas. I had heard stories from the multi-day ticket sales, but I figured that was for the die-hards. Apparently, single day tickets are just as popular.
Fortunately, when I checked the next morning (of the 5th), the queue was gone and tickets were still available on some days in September and August. Also, I’ve read that since you can get your ticket refunded (less fees) up to the Thursday before their weekend date, they sometimes release additional tickets for purchase on Thursday.
