As you’d expect heading into Fourth of July weekend, not a ton of events going on that aren’t Independence Day related (and fewer events overall). There are a few, punctuated by the big fireworks celebration at Lake Kittamaqundi on Friday!
Did you know that Howard County publishes where they’re put their mobile speed cameras? These are both the parked vehicles and the gray boxes that can be moved from location to location. Here are the placements. (and don’t speed!!!)
If you’re feeling the pinch of higher utility bills, you could get a one-time grant from BGE Customer Relief Fund if you qualify. You must meet limited-income or moderate-income/Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed (ALICE) criteria, along with other qualifiers, and have a past-due BGE account balance.

HCPSS Summer Meal Program 🥪
All HCPSS students and any children ages 18 and younger can get free meals this summer from June 23 through August 1 (except July 4th) if you visit distribution locations around the county. It’s free - no application, enrollment, or fees - the children just have to be there to get the lunch.

The big fireworks display in the area will be the one at Lake Kittamaqundi. You will be able to put down blankets as early at 3pm but the festivities won’t commence until 5pm.
From 5pm until 9pm there will be food trucks - Blowfish Poke & Grill, Burgers & Bunz, Cousins Maine Lobster, Funnel Cake King, Greek on the Go, Kona Ice, Malik’s Ice Cream, Namit Filipino BBQ, Pacha Mama Juice, Taco Joint, Tasty Treats and More, Tom’s Coffee, and Tima Soft Serve.
Music from 6pm to 9pm - Dustbowl Revival and The Sidleys.

Teen Kick Backs - Teens 11-17 can enjoy free pizza and snacks, sports, video games and more at multiple centers around the county from 5pm until 8pm.

Laurel Independence Day Celebration - Enjoy festivities and a parade that starts at 3pm. It’s a full day of fun that concludes with fireworks in the evening!

Howard Astronomical League Star Parties 7/5 - The HAL hosts star parties every month up at Alpha Ridge Park from March through November, the next public one (for non-members) is on July 5th.
